A Better Experience

History in the Making

Ignore the fact that the Republican party's candidate for VP, Gov. of Alaska Sarah Palin, has been discovered abusing her power as governor by pressuring subordinates to find a reason to fire State Trooper Michael Wooten.

What's important right now in the world is that I have attained my first Blogger link from Scott Veggeberg's blog "This Blog Sucks". Never mind the fact that he says his blog sucks. Self-deprecation is part of his charm, like an Asian Conan O'Brien. And also, never mind that he's my co-worker and roommate who I told moments ago to link to my blog. His act is unprecedented and will no doubt set a trend that will catch on with blogs the world over.

Or maybe not. You can never tell with technology these days. It's all pixie dust and magic smoke to me. Speaking of technology, check this out: new technology that contains world previously unknown to man.

His link to my blog is "What's a bloggiest?" Now, while those of us who are in "the know" would scoff at such a silly question (especially if you've read my first post), I'll refrain and consider this a fair question in need of crisp, clean clarification.

Bloggiest (adj.) - 1. the greatest degree of blogging.

There, that should clear things up.

Eastside Memorial High

Eastside Memorial High is formerly known as Johnston High. It was shutdown after failure to meet standards established by NCLB. The school has been resurrected as Eastside Memorial, along with the football team. The team plays at the junior varsity level in order to remain competitive even if some players lose eligibility due to academic difficulty.

Day Labor Center, Austin, TX

These are the people who build Austin for $8 an hour. Or less. The greatest crime against these workers is wage theft. Undocumented or not, a day's work deserves a day's wage. What a planet.

Hog Wild for Jesus

Well, here are some shots from the Spring '08 semester. I was in a photoj class where we shot black and white film, except for this digital assignment. I shot a biker church service at a local fraternal lodge, called the Moose Lodge. The church service is hosted by Pastor Rick King of Rushing Wind Ministry - his ministry - and is attended by about 50 of the kindest people I've ever met, in leather or otherwise.

Art Stuff

Recently, Katrina and I had a gallery opening as part of the UT NPPA (National Press Photographer's Association). Both her and I, along with the 18 or so other photographers in the show, have one photo on display.
Here's hers. It's beautiful.

And mine.

I'm happy to be a part of the show, something that wouldn't have been possible were it not for the vision and hard work of Rebecca Davis, the UT chapter's president. She pulled everything off due almost entirely to her own perseverance. If I find out her blog address I will include it in future or edited posts.

The photos will be up for a couple of weeks and all the funds raised from selling the photos will go to Caritas, a local non-profit that (I'm skipping the specifics) benefits those who need it.
